IIS Problems

After setting up my IIS on my laptop with Windows XP SP3, i tested it to see if it was working. I opened a new browser, and typed in http://localhost/ but it gave me a dialogue box to enter a User Name and Password, but when i tried all the known usernames/passwords i knew for my pc, nothing worked.

I even tried adding the local host address to my trusted intranet sites, still the same problem occurred.

Finally, i decided to create a test.html page in the wwwroot folder and navigate to it by using http://localhost/test.html and it opened perfectly.
